A page from the new book LAFCADIO HEARN'S JAPANESE GHOST STORIES. (NB - created in Japanese reading style, go from right to left side of the page for the panel order). This is a 140 page manga book mixing illustrated versions of ten classic Japanese ghosts stories with a biography of the writer LAFCADIO HEARN. He originally collected together these stories between 1890 and 1904, and was one of the main people to introduce Japan to 'the West'. THE STORY OF LEE -in Edinburgh

A recent finished page from the manga story THE STORY OF LEE. This will appear as a 25 page episode out of the longer story 'arc' in volume two of the MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW MANGA, out October 2007. Its from the planned part two of the story, where Lee now lives in Edinburgh, with her boyfriend Matt. Part one is where the two of them met in Lee's native city of Beijing,China. There will be a part three also, with a bit of luck. Written by myself and the artist is the wonderful and cute (but not as cute as me!) Yishan Li. The parts of the story set in Edinburgh contain a lot of biographical details from my own life, even though this story is basically fictional.

This story also features the 'real life' band THE CLIENTELE, performing in Edinburgh Univeristy. The singer of this band, Alasdair Maclean, and I went to the Univeristy at the same time, and were close pals. We used to go to the Cafe Florentine together near the high street and discuss of glorious artistic futures. This was 15 years ago, and thankfully we are both still making those dreams come true.
